All of it

I just had a great, a wonderful idea.

I remembered that the first thing I like to do when I visit someone else's place is to look at all the books in the house. I like to compare with the ones I have and it's a great source of conversations. Not that I am having problems with my conversations, but I think when two people loved the same book, it creates something special.

It leads me to this magnificent, genious idea. Why don't you all send me your list of books? I would like to post pictures or commentaries from all of you. :P Am-I overrating the popularity of this blog? Maybeeeee.....
Anyway! It stimulates me and that's the most important thing.
Let's just hope I'm not the only book-freak in the world. ;)

Vanity Fair

And now, let's just do what we're supposed to do.

Vanity Fair by Thackeray. 1847-48. One hundred and sixty years from now.

That huge book is what I'm trying to finish right now.
And, mark my words, I mean it. I'm trying not to let go. It's hard.
It's not that the story is not interesting. Rebecca is such a great character and her sense of humor is admirable. I like her alot. No, it's not about her or the other characters. I just don't get the sense of timing. I feel as though there is not enough to be said in all those pages. 870 or so. Maybe I'm just not concentrated enough, but now I'm turning the 375th (not even half of it) and I'm still waiting for something awful and big and captivating to happen.

If you read it, you might just know what I'm talking about. Help!

Take two

Ok. I just realized that most of the books I read are in French and since it's pretty complicated to search for all the English titles of those who were translated, I'll just keep the names in French for the ones I'm sure are not translated. If you speak both languages or if you studied French literature, it might still be pretty interesting. Done.

Let's get it started

So... Am I the very last one on earth who doesn't already have a blog talking about my life and every fantastic aspect of it? Probably not. Anyway.

I have good news for you. I'm not going to talk about how I spent my time during the day or how I hate my job or anything of the sort. Nope. I'm going to talk about my books. Yeah, those pages and pages covered with the greatest (or the poorest, you decide) blah-blah-blah. I have no idea what it's going to look like, but what I know for sure is that it will go both ways: from me to you, from you to me. You all blog-readers are going to have to interact with me. Or this blog will be a complete failure. Haha!

I guess it's going to look like a report of my readings, what I liked about some books or what I hated about others. You could probably use those comments as suggestions. I have to prevent you, I'm not considering myself a critic, even if I had one of those horribly great courses at college in which I had to analyse Sophocles' texts using the feminist point of view... Wo...

I also want to apologize for my bad English redaction skills. I'm originally French speaking, and as you might know, in school, English is not of the greatest importance. You'll have to deal with it!!

So, here we go. That was a great introduction. I'm going to post a list of all the books I read that I can remember of. I would also like to post a review of all of them, but it might just take a while. If you have any comments, I would really apprciate hearing from you. Enjoy!
